The Holmes - Play Area

DESCRIPTION

This consists of both sides of the river. One side is wilder and although accessed by paths is left to be a haven for wildlife, trees, flowers, birds, animals and insects. The western side consists of a grass area that has picnic tables, willow groves, seats and play equipment. A wooden adventure trail of log walks, clatter bridges, beams etc and more traditional metal play equipment with cradle and junior swings, parallel bars and overhead ladders. The swings have recently had improved safety surfacing introduced. The area is a pleasant area to walk and leads to the waterfall bridge where the public footpath leads to South Kilvington and Stockton Road. The Holmes is owned by the Lord of the Manor, Mr John Bell and leased to Thirsk Town Council who maintain it.
