Children welcome. A very hands-on museum with family friendly exhibits and activities. Children of all ages enjoy the museum. Accessible. There are a variety of authentic ground surfaces, some of which are uneven with steep slopes in places, and some buildings and exhibits have stepped access. The Accessible Bus, with a rear tail lift, is available for visitors who need it. If a disabled visitor needs a companion or carer this person is admitted free. Visitors can use personal motorised scooters to help them get around the museum. Dogs welcome with conditions.

Children welcome. Family Fun. Follow a Museum Activity Trail. Display your own drawings (acitivity cards). Learn about Captain Cook and those who sailed with him from our volunteers. Join our workshops Accessible. Short ramps connect the differing levels of the street entrance, the courtyard and the ground floor rooms of the Museum. Wheelchair users are able to negotiate them. There are handrails where appropriate. The reception area doubles as a shop. Staff are happy to assist if requested. Stair access to the first floor is supplemented by a lift from reception which takes one wheelchair and carer at a time. There are two WCs in the museum, one of which is accessible. The DVD for the second floor and attic is on the ground floor through the Blue Room. Large print guides are available, as are detailed room by room guides in small print. We have translations of the latter in French, Dutch and Norwegian.
